How to sell to CTOs at Fintech companies in Sweden

CTOs in Swedish fintech companies are primarily measured on system uptime and security compliance. They respond positively to outreach that demonstrates a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and the specific challenges of integrating new technologies into existing systems. Highlighting how your solution can enhance security while maintaining uptime is key to capturing their attention.

Written and maintained by the SoloRiff team, who build outbound software and run outbound with it. The figures below are our own: we measured 570 fintech company domains over public DNS on 2026-09-03. Last updated 2026-09-03.

What actually hurts

  • system downtime during upgrades
  • data breaches and security threats
  • integration with legacy systems

The playbook

  1. 01

    Identify recent regulatory changes

Research recent regulatory updates in Sweden's fintech landscape, focusing on compliance requirements. Use sources like the Financial Supervisory Authority of Sweden to find relevant changes. This will allow you to tailor your messaging around how your solution helps navigate these new regulations.

  2. 02

    Pinpoint companies launching new products

Filter for fintech companies that have recently announced new product launches or updates. Use platforms like Crunchbase or industry news to identify these companies. Targeting businesses in a growth phase increases the likelihood of them being open to new solutions that can support their new offerings.

  3. 03

    Craft messaging around security enhancements

Develop outreach that emphasizes how your solution improves security measures specifically required by Swedish fintech regulations. Mention specific compliance standards like PSD2 or GDPR that are pertinent to their operations. This shows you understand their immediate concerns and are equipped to address them.

  4. 04

    Address integration challenges directly

In your outreach, acknowledge the common pain points around integrating new technologies with legacy systems. Use insights from industry reports or forums to reference specific integration hurdles they might face. This demonstrates empathy and positions your solution as a viable option to overcome these challenges.

  5. 05

Set a follow-up timeline based on product cycles

After your initial outreach, schedule follow-ups based on the typical product development cycles of fintech companies. If they recently launched a product, wait 2-3 weeks before following up to discuss how your solution can enhance their offering. This aligns your outreach with their operational timelines.

Can fintech companies even receive your mail?

We measured the DNS of 570 fintech companies, sampled evenly across company sizes, to see how many authenticate their own email. It matters in both directions: a domain that does not authenticate is a domain whose team is used to mail going missing — and if your own domain is in the gap, yours is the mail going missing.

Publishes a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject — the domain actually asks receivers to act on failures.

The gap is the finding: 34.3% of 1–10-person companies against 92.2% of the largest — 58 points apart. Small companies are where the unauthenticated domains are, and small companies are who most cold outreach is aimed at.

Where does your domain sit?

Same three lookups, run live against your domain. Nothing is stored and nothing is emailed to you.

How this was measured

Company domains were sampled within employee-count bands, then queried over public DNS for SPF (TXT at the apex), DMARC (TXT at _dmarc.) and MX. One domain per company, deduplicated. Anyone can reproduce any single row of this with dig.

DKIM is deliberately absent. A DKIM key lives under a selector that cannot be enumerated from outside the domain, so a company with flawless DKIM under a name we did not guess would be counted as having none. That would measure our guess list, not the industry.

Domains with no MX record are excluded rather than counted as failures — parked and redirect-only domains would otherwise drag every figure down and make the result an artefact of the sample.

Sampled within bands, so this describes the population of companies, not of employees: a 10-person company counts once, as does a 10,000-person one. Each band is at least 60 domains; bands below that are not published. Figures are percentages of the sample, not of the whole industry, and we publish no company names — only counts.

Questions

Why do CTOs in fintech ignore outreach about new technologies?
CTOs often receive numerous outreach messages, and many do not address their specific regulatory and integration concerns. If a message lacks relevance to their current challenges, it can easily be overlooked. Tailoring outreach to highlight solutions for immediate pain points is crucial.
What are common objections from fintech CTOs?
Common objections include concerns about system compatibility, the potential for downtime during implementation, and the need for compliance with strict regulations. Addressing these objections directly in your messaging can help mitigate their hesitations and open the door to further discussions.
How important is industry-specific knowledge to fintech CTOs?
Industry-specific knowledge is extremely important to fintech CTOs. They need to see that you understand the unique challenges of the fintech landscape, including regulatory compliance and security requirements. Demonstrating this knowledge can significantly increase your credibility and chances of engagement.
What factors influence a CTO's decision to engage with vendors?
A CTO's decision to engage with vendors often hinges on the vendor's understanding of their specific challenges, the potential for improved security and compliance, and the vendor's ability to integrate seamlessly with existing systems. Clear communication of these factors can lead to productive conversations.
