How to sell to Heads of Marketing at Fintech companies in United States

Heads of Marketing at fintech companies in the United States are primarily measured on lead generation and conversion rates. They respond to outreach that clearly outlines how your solution can enhance their marketing technology stack or improve customer engagement metrics, as this directly impacts their goals and KPIs in a competitive landscape.

Written and maintained by the SoloRiff team, who build outbound software and run outbound with it. The figures below are our own: we measured 570 fintech company domains over public DNS on 2026-09-03. Last updated 2026-09-03.

What actually hurts

  • underwhelming lead conversion rates
  • ineffective customer engagement
  • high customer acquisition costs
  • overwhelmed marketing teams

The playbook

  1. 01

Identify teams expanding their marketing automation

Search for fintech companies that have recently announced upgrades or expansions in their marketing automation tools. Use platforms like LinkedIn or industry news sites to find these announcements. Focus on those that mention increasing customer engagement or lead generation.

  2. 02

    Analyze their content strategy

Review the marketing content produced by your target companies, such as blogs, whitepapers, and social media posts. Identify gaps in their messaging or areas where they struggle to convey their value proposition effectively. Highlight these gaps in your outreach to position your solution as a remedy.

  3. 03

    Leverage recent funding news

Target fintech companies that have recently secured funding. These companies are often looking to scale their marketing efforts quickly. Craft your outreach to emphasize how your solution can help them maximize the ROI on their new marketing budget.

  4. 04

    Prepare for budget objections

Anticipate objections related to budget constraints, especially from companies that are prioritizing cost management. Be ready to discuss flexible pricing options or demonstrate how your solution can lead to long-term savings through improved efficiency or customer acquisition.

  5. 05

Time your follow-up after major industry events

Plan your follow-up outreach within a week after major fintech conferences or marketing expos. Many heads of marketing will be reflecting on new strategies and tools they encountered at these events. Reference these events in your follow-up to create relevance and urgency.

Can fintech companies even receive your mail?

We measured the DNS of 570 fintech companies, sampled evenly across company sizes, to see how many authenticate their own email. It matters in both directions: a domain that does not authenticate is a domain whose team is used to mail going missing — and if your own domain is in the gap, yours is the mail going missing.

The gap is the finding: 34.3% of 1–10-person companies against 92.2% of the largest — 58 points apart. Small companies are where the unauthenticated domains are, and small companies are who most cold outreach is aimed at.

How this was measured

Company domains were sampled within employee-count bands, then queried over public DNS for SPF (TXT at the apex), DMARC (TXT at _dmarc.) and MX. One domain per company, deduplicated. Anyone can reproduce any single row of this with dig.

DKIM is deliberately absent. A DKIM key lives under a selector that cannot be enumerated from outside the domain, so a company with flawless DKIM under a name we did not guess would be counted as having none. That would measure our guess list, not the industry.

Domains with no MX record are excluded rather than counted as failures — parked and redirect-only domains would otherwise drag every figure down and make the result an artefact of the sample.

Sampled within bands, so this describes the population of companies, not of employees: a 10-person company counts once, as does a 10,000-person one. Each band is at least 60 domains; bands below that are not published. Figures are percentages of the sample, not of the whole industry, and we publish no company names — only counts.
