How to sell to Heads of Sales at Developer tools companies in France
Heads of Sales in developer tools companies in France are primarily measured on quarterly revenue growth. They respond positively to outreach that clearly addresses how your solution can streamline their sales process or enhance their team's productivity. Demonstrating a deep understanding of their tech stack, especially around CI/CD and API platforms, will catch their attention.
Written and maintained by the SoloRiff team, who build outbound software and run outbound with it. The figures below are our own: we measured 587 developer tools company domains over public DNS on 2026-09-03. Last updated 2026-09-03.
What actually hurts
- long sales cycles
- difficulties in demonstrating product value
- high churn rates
- inefficient onboarding processes
The playbook
- 01
Identify teams using CI/CD tools
Use LinkedIn Sales Navigator to filter for companies in France that mention CI/CD in their technology stack. This indicates they are likely investing in developer tools and may be open to solutions that improve their workflow.
- 02
Connect with recent hires in sales leadership
Look for new VP Sales or Head of Sales at these companies within the last six months. New leaders often seek fresh approaches to meet their revenue targets, making them more receptive to innovative solutions.
- 03
Highlight pain points around sales productivity
Craft your email to address specific challenges like long sales cycles or difficulties in demonstrating product value. Use language that resonates with their daily struggles, such as 'reducing onboarding time for new sales reps'.
- 04
Leverage case studies from similar companies
Include a brief case study of how a similar developer tools company improved their sales metrics after implementing a new process. This adds credibility and shows you understand their market.
- 05
Propose a clear call to action
End your outreach with a specific proposal for a 20-minute call to discuss how your solution can help them achieve their quarterly goals. Suggest a couple of time slots to simplify scheduling.
Can developer tools companies even receive your mail?
We measured the DNS of 587 developer tools companies, sampled evenly across company sizes, to see how many authenticate their own email. It matters in both directions: a domain that does not authenticate is a domain whose team is used to mail going missing — and if your own domain is in the gap, yours is the mail going missing.
Publishes a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject — the domain actually asks receivers to act on failures.
The gap is the finding: 27.4% of 1–10-person companies against 94.9% of the largest — 68 points apart. Small companies are where the unauthenticated domains are, and small companies are who most cold outreach is aimed at.

How this was measured
Company domains were sampled within employee-count bands, then queried over public DNS for SPF (TXT at the apex), DMARC (TXT at _dmarc.) and MX. One domain per company, deduplicated. Anyone can reproduce any single row of this with dig.
DKIM is deliberately absent. A DKIM key lives under a selector that cannot be enumerated from outside the domain, so a company with flawless DKIM under a name we did not guess would be counted as having none. That would measure our guess list, not the industry.
Domains with no MX record are excluded rather than counted as failures — parked and redirect-only domains would otherwise drag every figure down and make the result an artefact of the sample.
Sampled within bands, so this describes the population of companies, not of employees: a 10-person company counts once, as does a 10,000-person one. Each band is at least 60 domains; bands below that are not published. Figures are percentages of the sample, not of the whole industry, and we publish no company names — only counts.

Questions
- Why do Heads of Sales in developer tools ignore cold outreach?
- They often receive numerous messages that lack specificity and fail to address their unique challenges. If outreach does not demonstrate a clear understanding of their market and pain points, it is easily overlooked.
- What common objections do Heads of Sales have?
- They may question the ROI of new tools, express concerns about integration with existing systems, or highlight their current team's satisfaction with existing processes. Addressing these objections upfront is crucial for engagement.
- How can I get a response from a busy Head of Sales?
- Craft concise, impactful messages that highlight immediate benefits. Acknowledge their busy schedule and propose a brief call that respects their time, focusing on how you can solve a specific issue they face.
- What role does company size play in outreach effectiveness?
- Larger companies may have more complex sales processes, requiring tailored messaging that reflects their specific needs. Smaller firms might be more agile and open to new solutions, so adjust your approach accordingly.
