How to sell to Heads of Sales at Agencies companies in Netherlands

Heads of Sales at agencies in the Netherlands are primarily measured on revenue growth. They respond to outreach that shows a clear understanding of their unique sales cycles, particularly how to shorten the time from lead to conversion. Demonstrating knowledge of their specific market challenges, like client retention rates or seasonal fluctuations in demand, will capture their attention.

What actually hurts

  • high client turnover
  • inefficient lead conversion
  • seasonal revenue fluctuations

The playbook

  1. 01

    Identify recent client wins

Look for agencies that have recently announced new client acquisitions or project launches. You can find this information in press releases or social media updates. Tailor your outreach to highlight how your solution can help them capitalize on this momentum.

  2. 02

    Analyze seasonal sales trends

Research the agency's sales patterns to identify peak seasons or slow periods. Use tools like Google Trends or industry reports. Mention these trends in your outreach to position your solution as a timely resource for maximizing revenue during their busy periods.

  3. 03

    Connect over industry challenges

Explore common pain points in the agency sector, such as high client turnover or project scope creep. Use LinkedIn or industry forums to see discussions around these topics. Reference these challenges in your messaging to resonate with their experiences.

  4. 04

    Leverage referrals from mutual connections

Check your network for connections who have worked with the agency or similar companies. Use LinkedIn to find mutual contacts who can introduce you. A warm introduction can significantly increase your chances of getting a response.

  5. 05

Suggest a specific date for a call

When reaching out, propose a specific date and time for a brief call, such as 'Would you be available for a quick chat on Thursday at 2 PM?' This approach shows you value their time and have a clear agenda, making it easier for them to say yes.

Can agencies companies even receive your mail?

We measured the DNS of 558 agencies companies, sampled evenly across company sizes, to see how many authenticate their own email. It matters in both directions: a domain that does not authenticate is a domain whose team is used to mail going missing — and if your own domain is in the gap, yours is the mail going missing.

Publishes a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject — the domain actually asks receivers to act on failures.

The gap is the finding: 16.8% of 1–10-person companies against 55.4% of the largest — 39 points apart. Small companies are where the unauthenticated domains are, and small companies are who most cold outreach is aimed at.

Where does your domain sit?

How this was measured

Company domains were sampled within employee-count bands, then queried over public DNS for SPF (TXT at the apex), DMARC (TXT at _dmarc.) and MX. One domain per company, deduplicated. Anyone can reproduce any single row of this with dig.

DKIM is deliberately absent. A DKIM key lives under a selector that cannot be enumerated from outside the domain, so a company with flawless DKIM under a name we did not guess would be counted as having none. That would measure our guess list, not the industry.

Domains with no MX record are excluded rather than counted as failures — parked and redirect-only domains would otherwise drag every figure down and make the result an artefact of the sample.

Sampled within bands, so this describes the population of companies, not of employees: a 10-person company counts once, as does a 10,000-person one. Each band is at least 60 domains; bands below that are not published. Figures are percentages of the sample, not of the whole industry, and we publish no company names — only counts.

Questions

Why do Heads of Sales at agencies ignore cold outreach?
Heads of Sales often receive numerous cold emails daily, making it easy for them to overlook messages that lack personalization or relevance. They prioritize outreach that addresses their specific challenges or demonstrates a clear understanding of the agency landscape.
What common objections do Heads of Sales have?
A common objection is the perception that new solutions will disrupt their current processes. They may also be concerned about the ROI of any new investment. Addressing these objections upfront in your messaging can help alleviate their concerns.
How can I stand out in my outreach to Heads of Sales?
To stand out, leverage insights specific to their agency's recent performance or industry trends. Personalizing your message with relevant data or case studies that relate directly to their situation will increase your chances of engagement.
What is the best time to reach out to Heads of Sales?
The best time to reach out is often mid-week, particularly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, when they are less likely to be overwhelmed by the start or end of the week. Timing your outreach to avoid busy periods can improve response rates.
