How to sell to Heads of Marketing at Agencies companies in Sweden

Heads of Marketing at agencies in Sweden are primarily measured on client retention rates. They respond positively to outreach that highlights actionable insights on campaign performance improvements. Demonstrating an understanding of the specific challenges they face, such as managing client expectations and delivering measurable results, will capture their attention and prompt a response.

Written and maintained by the SoloRiff team, who build outbound software and run outbound with it. The figures below are our own: we measured 558 agencies company domains over public DNS on 2026-09-03. Last updated 2026-09-03.

What actually hurts

  • client retention challenges
  • tight campaign budgets
  • pressure from demanding clients
  • difficulty measuring campaign ROI

The playbook

  1. 01

    Identify recent client wins

Search for agencies in Sweden that have recently announced new client acquisitions or project launches. Use platforms like LinkedIn or industry news sites. Highlight how your solution can help them sustain and build on these recent successes.

  2. 02

    Analyze social media engagement metrics

Review the agency's social media channels for engagement metrics. Identify posts that received high engagement and correlate them with potential pain points in their marketing strategy. Use this information to tailor your messaging around improving their content strategy.

  3. 03

    Pinpoint seasonal campaign pressures

Look for upcoming holidays or events relevant to the agency's clients that may increase their workload. Timing your outreach just before these periods can make your solution more appealing as they prepare for increased demand.

  4. 04

    Address common objections about budget

Prepare responses for budget-related objections by researching typical agency marketing budgets in Sweden. Be ready to explain how your solution can provide a positive ROI, especially during tight budget cycles.

  5. 05

Follow up after key industry events

Track industry events or conferences in Sweden where these agencies are likely to participate. Send a follow-up message after the event, referencing insights or trends discussed that relate to their challenges, to increase the likelihood of securing a call.

Can agencies companies even receive your mail?

We measured the DNS of 558 agencies companies, sampled evenly across company sizes, to see how many authenticate their own email. It matters in both directions: a domain that does not authenticate is a domain whose team is used to mail going missing — and if your own domain is in the gap, yours is the mail going missing.

Publishes a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject — the domain actually asks receivers to act on failures.

The gap is the finding: 16.8% of 1–10-person companies against 55.4% of the largest — 39 points apart. Small companies are where the unauthenticated domains are, and small companies are who most cold outreach is aimed at.

Where does your domain sit?

How this was measured

Company domains were sampled within employee-count bands, then queried over public DNS for SPF (TXT at the apex), DMARC (TXT at _dmarc.) and MX. One domain per company, deduplicated. Anyone can reproduce any single row of this with dig.

DKIM is deliberately absent. A DKIM key lives under a selector that cannot be enumerated from outside the domain, so a company with flawless DKIM under a name we did not guess would be counted as having none. That would measure our guess list, not the industry.

Domains with no MX record are excluded rather than counted as failures — parked and redirect-only domains would otherwise drag every figure down and make the result an artefact of the sample.

Sampled within bands, so this describes the population of companies, not of employees: a 10-person company counts once, as does a 10,000-person one. Each band is at least 60 domains; bands below that are not published. Figures are percentages of the sample, not of the whole industry, and we publish no company names — only counts.

Questions

Why do Heads of Marketing at agencies ignore outreach about analytics tools?
Many Heads of Marketing prioritize immediate client needs and may see analytics tools as an additional workload rather than a solution. They often require clear evidence of how such tools can directly enhance client satisfaction and retention before considering a conversation.
What influences a Head of Marketing's decision to switch agencies?
A Head of Marketing may consider switching agencies due to dissatisfaction with service quality, lack of measurable results, or failure to meet campaign deadlines. Understanding these triggers can help tailor your outreach to address their specific concerns.
How do Heads of Marketing at agencies evaluate new vendor proposals?
They typically assess proposals based on the potential impact on campaign effectiveness, alignment with client goals, and cost-effectiveness. A proposal that clearly outlines how it meets these criteria is more likely to gain their attention.
What are common misconceptions about agency marketing budgets?
Many believe agency marketing budgets are rigid and unchangeable. In reality, Heads of Marketing often have some flexibility, especially if they can demonstrate a strong case for ROI. Understanding this can help in framing your outreach effectively.
