How to sell to CTOs at E-commerce companies in Sweden
CTOs at e-commerce companies in Sweden prioritize system uptime and performance metrics. They respond to outreach that demonstrates a deep understanding of their tech stack, especially around scalability and integration challenges. Highlighting solutions that improve site reliability or reduce downtime can lead to meaningful conversations.
Written and maintained by the SoloRiff team, who build outbound software and run outbound with it. The figures below are our own: we measured 578 e-commerce company domains over public DNS on 2026-09-03. Last updated 2026-09-03.
What actually hurts
- site downtime during peak hours
- integration issues with new platforms
- slow loading times affecting sales
- inability to scale during traffic spikes
The playbook
- 01
Identify recent platform migrations
Search for e-commerce companies in Sweden that have recently migrated to new platforms like Shopify. Use industry news sites and LinkedIn to find announcements. This indicates they may be looking for tools to optimize their new setup.
- 02
Analyze tech stack vulnerabilities
Utilize tools like BuiltWith to assess the tech stack of your target companies. Identify common vulnerabilities or inefficiencies in their current setup, particularly in site performance or security. This will inform your outreach and demonstrate your expertise.
- 03
Craft a message around uptime improvements
Compose your outreach email focusing on how your solution can enhance uptime and performance for their online store. Reference specific pain points like site crashes during peak traffic. Use data from case studies to strengthen your claims.
- 04
Follow up after major sales events
Schedule follow-ups with CTOs a week after major sales events like Black Friday or Cyber Monday. This is when they reflect on performance issues and may be more open to discussing improvements. Use this timing to address any pain points they might have experienced.
- 05
Leverage mutual connections for introductions
Identify mutual connections on LinkedIn who can introduce you to the CTOs. A warm introduction can significantly increase your chances of a response. Ensure to mention the mutual connection in your outreach to build credibility.
Can e-commerce companies even receive your mail?
We measured the DNS of 578 e-commerce companies, sampled evenly across company sizes, to see how many authenticate their own email. It matters in both directions: a domain that does not authenticate is a domain whose team is used to mail going missing — and if your own domain is in the gap, yours is the mail going missing.
Publishes a DMARC policy of quarantine or reject — the domain actually asks receivers to act on failures.
The gap is the finding: 19.6% of 1–10-person companies against 67.5% of the largest — 48 points apart. Small companies are where the unauthenticated domains are, and small companies are who most cold outreach is aimed at.
Where does your domain sit?
Same three lookups, run live against your domain. Nothing is stored and nothing is emailed to you.
How this was measured
Company domains were sampled within employee-count bands, then queried over public DNS for SPF (TXT at the apex), DMARC (TXT at _dmarc.) and MX. One domain per company, deduplicated. Anyone can reproduce any single row of this with dig.
DKIM is deliberately absent. A DKIM key lives under a selector that cannot be enumerated from outside the domain, so a company with flawless DKIM under a name we did not guess would be counted as having none. That would measure our guess list, not the industry.
Domains with no MX record are excluded rather than counted as failures — parked and redirect-only domains would otherwise drag every figure down and make the result an artefact of the sample.
Sampled within bands, so this describes the population of companies, not of employees: a 10-person company counts once, as does a 10,000-person one. Each band is at least 60 domains; bands below that are not published. Figures are percentages of the sample, not of the whole industry, and we publish no company names — only counts.

Questions
- Why do CTOs at e-commerce companies ignore cold outreach?
- CTOs often receive numerous cold emails that lack relevance to their specific challenges. If the outreach does not address their immediate needs, such as performance issues or integration challenges, it is likely to be overlooked. Tailored messages that resonate with their current projects are essential.
- What common challenges do e-commerce CTOs face?
- E-commerce CTOs frequently deal with issues related to site performance, system integrations, and scalability. They must ensure that the technology can handle increased traffic during sales events and that their platforms are secure and reliable. These challenges can lead to significant operational headaches.
- How can I get a meeting with a CTO in e-commerce?
- To secure a meeting with a CTO, demonstrate a clear understanding of their technology stack and the specific challenges they face. Use insights from recent industry trends or their company news to craft a compelling outreach message that highlights potential solutions to their problems.
- What makes an outreach email effective for a CTO?
- An effective outreach email for a CTO should be concise, focused on specific pain points, and offer tangible solutions. Including relevant data or case studies that illustrate how your solution has helped similar companies can also increase engagement and interest.
